NALYZING RACISM THROUGH THE STRUCTURAL RACIAL DISCRIMINATION IN “TILL” MOVIE SCRIPT (2022)

This study, titled "Analyzing Racism Through Structural Racial Discrimination in the Till Movie Script (2022)," aims to analyze various forms of racism and structural racial discrimination depicted in the Till (2022) movie script. Research on the Movie Till using the framework of structural racial discrimination remains scarce. This study employs a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach to understand and highlight key elements of the story, including characterization, plot, and setting, as well as the broader social impact of racism on the Black community. The results of the study reveal that the main character, Mamie, as Emmett’s mother, is portrayed as tense, emotional, and highly determined to seek justice for her son’s death while resisting the entrenched laws of Mississippi. The plot reflects the journey beginning with the introduction of the close and loving relationship between Mamie and Emmett. The setting, focused on the southern United States, reinforces the context of racial discrimination and racism experienced by several characters, including the main ones.The extrinsic approach in this analysis, through sociological theory, highlights how racism at institutional, economic, legal, and environmental levels creates persistent challenges for the Black community. This qualitative study provides deep insights into the impact of structural racism in social and historical contexts while underscoring the importance of the fight for justice and equality.
