ANALYSIS OF THE ALBUM “WHEN YOU WALK AWAY” BY FUR WRITTEN BY THEO VARNEY USING FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE

This thesis aims to analysis figurative language in a song album lyric of When You Walk Away by Fur. The theory in semantic are used to analyse the true meaning and figurative language used in album “When You Walk Away” by FUR. This research uses a qualitative approach. This research is carried out using descriptive qualitative methods because the data is not numerical data but descriptions. The object of this research is the song lyrics in the album “When You Walk Away” by Fur written by Theo Varney. The data of this research is taken from the lyrics in the spotify application and Genius website. The results of this study are that there are several figurative languages contained in the lyrics of the song When You Walk Away, there are 5 types of figurative language found in the album. There are There are three (3) personification, eighteen (18) metaphors, fourteen (14) hyperbole, one (1) simile, and eight (8) idiom.
